Taylor Steele is a legend in the surfing community. In the nearly three decades he has been making surfing films, he has rubbed shoulders with countless surfer legends such as Kelly Slater, Shane Dorian, and Ross Williams, but also played a role in the success of then-upcoming punk rock stars Blink 182, Pennywise, and surf rocker Jack Johnson. The extremely savvy Steele has collaborated with the likes of Daft Punk and Lindsay Lohan through his career, making the Fast Company "100 Most Creative in Business" list in 2014.So where does the tequila fit in? He fell in love with the spirit in New York, where he had his first encounter with quality sipping tequila. "The way that I drink it is sipping it and not spring break. The main reason that I enjoy it is the connection that I have with friends, it was just a way for me to slow down and just really connect with people around me," says Steele. "The idea of starting Solento came from hoping to impact people positively, offering a reminder that even in the most fast-paced of lives, we need to create space for celebrating the present," he says of the time when the idea first began to crystallize. Thus he went on a quest to Mexico, where he came upon a distillery with a history of over 6 decades of tequila-making. In November 2019, Solento (a combination of the Spanish words "sun" and "slow") was born. Even before the launch of the 3 expressions the Blanco, Reposado, and Aejo they had garnered several awards.Crafted in Jalisco, Mexico, Solento Tequila is USDA Certified Organic and made in small batches on a single estate using ripe 7-year-old blue agaves. The unaged Blanco expression won a Double Gold at the 2019 SIP Awards and a Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in the same year and is a crisp and fresh spirit with citrus and vanilla notes.Pick a bottle up today!
