Absolut Distillery was established in 1879 by Lars Olsson Smith. Located in Ahus, Sweden, Absolut vodka is produced from locally grown winter wheat of the Rbelf Estate a family-owned farm that has produced high quality grain since the 1400s.In addition to the winter wheat, the other key ingredient is fresh well water that runs beneath the distillery. The water is added to the ground wheat, along with enzymes that encourage the starches to convert to sugars, and is boiled for three hours before being chilled to 37 degrees and prepared for fermentation.Absolut Elyx get its name from lyx which is Swedish for luxury. Elyx is made manually in small batches from a mashbill of local ingredients, all of which are traceable to within a 15 mile radius of Ahus.Elyx is distilled in a vintage 1921 copper column still which naturally catalyzes trace compounds in the spirit, purifying Elyx and adding to the rich, silky, smooth finish. The entire process of Eylx every handle, knob and lever is adjusted by hand to produce consistent high quality batches.Lined with a copper foil pineapple damask, the Absolut Elyx Pineapple Gift Box includes a 750ml bottle of Absolut Elyx, a copper pineapple serving vessel, and an Elyx cocktail recipes booklet.The nose is sharp with crisp grain notes. Elyx is smooth and sweet on the palate with touches of vanilla cream and butterscotch, and a hint of hazelnut and chocolate. The finish is clean with hints of spice.
