Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Charles Nelson was born on July 4, 1835 in a small town in the Mecklenburg-Schwerin state of northern Germany. In 1850, his father decided to move the family, which included five other siblings, to the United States for a chance at a better life. During the journey across the Atlantic, John Nelson passed away and Charles just 15 years old at the time found himself the breadwinner of the family. After working at several odd jobs throughout the Northeast, Nelson settled in Nashville and opened a grocery store built on the foundation of his three best-selling products: coffee, meat and whiskey. Demand for Nelsons whiskey soared during Reconstruction such that he shuttered his grocery store and opened up his own distillery. The distillery, commonly known as "Old Number Five" due to the fact that it was given Distillery License #5, became one of the largest in the United States, and was the first to produce Belle Meade Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Old Number Five was eventually forced to close its doors during Prohibition, but today, Charlie and Andy Nelson Charles Nelsons great-great-great grandsons have taken up the family business once more.Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon Whiskey is made from a mashbill of 64 percent corn, 30 percent rye, and 6 percent malted barley. Once the grains are milled and mashed, they are fermented with two unique strains of yeast. "I think the two yeast strains really work well together to create that balanced flavor," says Andy, "not going too heavy or too light on any single characteristic." Following fermentation, the bourbon is distilled and matured in new, American oak casks.Once the bourbon has matured for a minimum of six years (although the average age of the bourbon is closer to seven years), Charlie and Andy hand-select four different barrels to bring to proof and bottle by hand. "We choose each barrel based on how it will mingle with the other three in the batch," says Andy, "and we look to maintain a consistent, robust flavor profile."Each bottle of Belle Meade Bourbon is adorned with a vintage label that includes the portrait of two horses whose origins can be traced back to the original Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville. The horse on the right, known as Bonnie Scotland, was one of Belle Meades leading sires and was an ancestor to Man O War, Seabiscuit and Secretariat. The horse on the left, who was known as Brown Dick, was the descendent of a horse simply named Whiskey. "Hes the reason we removed their names from the label," says Andy, pointing to the horse on the left.Belle Meade Bourbon has an aroma of maple syrup, caramel and citrus zest that opens up to notes of creamy vanilla, oak, peaches and spicy rye. The finish, while is smooth and mellow, has hints of dark fruits, including cherries and plums, that are accented by a touch of cinnamon and rye.Pick up a bottle today!

Benders Rye Whiskey
While many modern whiskeys take their names from bourbon aristocrats of the past Colonel E.H. Taylor, George T. Stagg and W.L. Weller, to name a few Benders Rye Whiskey is made by a real, living man by the name of Carl Bender. Bender, who is an illustrator, designer and self-proclaimed whiskey aficionado, teamed up with his pal Christopher Cohen, who boasts twenty years of experience in the wine and spirits industry along with "superhuman" taste buds, to launch Treasure Island Distillery in 2011.Located on Treasure Island, the landmass emerging between the Oakland and San Francisco sides of the Bay Bridge, Treasure Island Distillery shares real estate with the navy and an auxiliary air facility. (Treasure Island was also the site of the 1939 Worlds Fair, and is a California Historical Landmark). While Treasure Island is technically a neighborhood of San Francisco, Bender and Cohen speculate that its "more hospitable to spirits than people."Benders Rye Whiskey was crafted in honor of Treasure Island Distillerys first foray into Manhattan, and is blended from five-year-old rye and eight-to-9-year-old corn whiskeys sourced near Alberta, Canada. Some of the whiskeys are aged in year-old Bourbon barrels and Hoffmeister barrels are used for selective additional aging. As a result, Benders Rye has a sweet and spicy character, including hints of vanilla and caramel, which leads to a palate accented by notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and molasses. The finish is long and dry, with notes of raisins and buttered toast. Pick up a bottle today!

BenRiach 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Amidst the lush greenery, in the heart of Speyside, sits the pagodad roof of the BenRiach distillery. A facility that has been producing single malt Scotch since 1898. The area of Moray is known for its funnel shape, with the tip pointed to the source of the Spey River. Benriach sits at the very center of this funnel, just outside the town of Elgin. The story of BenRiach is one of resilience. In 1897, John Duff built the BenRiach distillery, after his early success with his Glenlossie and Longmorn distilleries. Duff even built a railroad in 1990, for the purpose of moving supplies back and forth between the two shops. The timing of his ambitious pursuits, however, proved problematic. Following the Pattison crash of 1899 and the downturn of the domestic market, BenRiach, along with many other distilleries were fated to close. The distillery had barely been operational for 2 years, before being made almost irrelevant for 65 years. During these 65 years, the plant remained operational solely as a malting facility for Longmorn. The two sister distilleries were essentially consolidated into a single working unit, BenRiach produced the grain, and Longmorn distilled it.But the 1960s were good to BenRiach as well as the entire industry, and the facility remained operational from 1965 onwards. In 2004 the distillery was bought out by a private entity who released a true BenRiach single malt Whisky. The distillery eventually fell under the ownership of The BenRiach Distilling Co. which also took (befittingly) the Glendronach and Glenglassaugh distilleries under its umbrella.Under the guidance of former blender, Billy Walker, in 2013 the floor maltings reopened, and distillery production poured forth full throttle. The distillery was then acquired by Brown-Forman, in 2016. They now produce up to 2.8 million liters per year. Fruit defines the heart of Benriachs character, specifically, distinct notes of pears and peaches. BenRiach 10YO has all the characteristics of the classic Speyside Whisky. Aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks before being bottled at 43 percent ABV, this single malt is vibrant and fruit-laden, featuring notes of warm oak spices, and green apple, as well as the signature peach and apricot flavors characteristic of BenRiach. The Whisky also features flavorful notes of banana, with a hint of aniseed, lemon zest, and barley. This 10YO won Silver medals three years running at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (2015-2107).Get your bottle today!

Amidst the lush greenery, in the heart of Speyside, sits the pagoda-style roof of the Benriach distillery, a facility that has been producing single malt Scotch since 1898. Under the guidance of former blender Billy Walker, the floor maltings reopened in 2013, and distillery production resumed with full throttle. The distillery was acquired by Brown-Forman in 2016. Fruit defines the heart of Benriachs character, specifically, distinct notes of pears and peaches. Its with the Benriach 21 that their range turns from 3-cask maturation to 4 casks for their older spirits. Crafted by Master Blender Rachel Barrie, this expression is a blend of peated and unpeated whisky that has spent at least 21 years in ex-bourbon, sherry, virgin oak, and Bordeaux wine casks. This mellows the gentle sweet smokiness, making it blend together with the fruity and oaky notes. The resulting profile with honeyed smoke is rich, complex, and deep, coming together beautifully balanced once the liquids are married together. "A beautiful reflection of the landscape around Benriach. A real sense of mountain oak spice, fruit, creamy malt and elegant layers of smoke," says Barrie of the single malt that is bottled at 92 proof.Get your bottle today!

BenRiach Curiositas 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Amidst the lush greenery, in the heart of Speyside, sits the pagodad roof of the BenRiach distillery. A facility that has been producing single malt Scotch since 1898. They now produce up to 2.8 million liters per year. Fruit defines the heart of Benriachs character, specifically, distinct notes of pears and peaches. BenRiach Curiositas is crafted using a heavily peated malted barley. This hearty dose of smoke is quite a rarity in the modern day Speyside heartlands, whose single malts are characterized by their unpeated, fruit-laden flavor profiles. But this was not always the case, as the original Speyside character and flavor of malts typical of the nineteenth century, tended to lean towards the peaty side, as did all Scotch Whiskies of the times. Peat reek is this Curositas main act, prominently featured in the fore whilst, the fruited notes fill the background, and oaky notes linger on the finish. It is said that 10 is the magic number when it comes to aging peated single malts. After 10 years of maturation, the Whisky achieves an optimum balance of peat-bittersweet and oak infusion. Curiositas is a distinctive dram, in so many ways. Full of character and depth, this single malt has quite a mature demeanor for a Whisky of its age. The expression also took Silver at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2017.Get your bottle today!

Benromach 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Situated on the outskirts of the ancient Royal Borough of Forres, Benromach Distillery was founded in 1898 by Duncan McCallum, a former distiller at the Glen Nevis Distillery in Campbeltown, and FW Brickman, a former spirits broker from Edinburgh. After just two short years of operation, McCallum and Brickman were forced to close the doors to Benromach Distillery and since then, the distillery has changed hands a number of times. In 1993, malt whisky specialists Gordon and MacPhail acquired the distillery and began refurbishing it. The experts at Gordon and MacPhail took five years to re-equip the distillery with two new stills and secure the water rights to Champelton Springs in Romach Hills. On October 15, 1998, Benromach Distillery was officially reopened by Prince Charles of Wales.Benromach 10 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from a variety of malts (Chariot, Golden Promise and Optic) that are lightly peated to the distillerys exact specifications. After sourcing the malted barley, the distillers at Benromach mill it through a four roller Boby mill and then mash it inside a 1.5 ton, stainless steel semi-lauter mash tun. Once the grains have been mashed, they are fermented with two varieties of yeast a brewers yeast and a distillers yeast and then distilled twice through Benromachs copper-pot stills. "It takes approximately 7,500 liters of wash to create only 600 liters of Benromach," says Chris Riesbeck, Gordon and MacPhails brand ambassador. After the whisky has been distilled, a portion of it is aged in first fill bourbon casks, while the remainder is aged in sherry casks. While the bourbon casks impart notes of cinnamon and biscuits to the whisky, the sherry casks add lush notes of dark fruits and apples. After aging for nearly a decade in the bourbon and sherry casks, the whisky is double-barreled, or finished in oloroso sherry casks, where it rests for another year (oloroso sherry is a type of dark and nutty fortified wine). As a result, Benromach 10 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a nose that is rich in its sherry influence, with notes of fruits, nuts and delicate spices. The initial notes of dark cherries and berries give way to a malty creaminess with a touch of peat, and lead to a long, fruity finish.Benromach 10 Year Old earned the Gold Medal at The Fifty Best Tasting Competition in 2011 and was awarded the title "Best Single Malt Scotch Whisky" at the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2012. In addition, it earned a score of 95 points from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2013.Pick up a bottle today!

Berkshire Mountain Distillers Bourbon Whiskey
When Chris Weld, founder and master distiller at Berkshire Mountain Distillers, was thirteen years old, he set about building a still for his eighth grade science project. "My dad was a Scotch drinker, so Id gotten it in my head that I wanted to build my very own still,"he says. When he learned that distilling spirits without a license was a federal offense, "well, that kind of put the kibosh on the whole plan."In 2007, he decided to try again. After purchasing some property in the shadow of the Berkshire Mountains in Sheffield, Massachusetts, Weld opened the doors to Berkshire Mountain Distillers. At the time, the land was little more than a dilapidated apple farm, but it did sport a legendary hot spring that was once deemed to produce the finest water in the world. Back in the 19th century, the water from the spring was thought to be so curative and therapeutic that people would travel across the country in order to drink from it. While Weld doesnt claim that the spring water which is rich in minerals and naturally granite-filtered has any mystical healing powers, he does swear by it.Handcrafted in small batches, Berkshire Bourbon is made from a mash of 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye and 10 percent malted barley. The corn is sourced from within two miles of Welds distillery, and the rye and malted barley also come from New England. Following fermentation, Berkshire Bourbon is triple-distilled in a traditional pot still before being aged in virgin American white oak casks and brought to proof using Welds legendary spring water.Try this legend today.

At the time, the land was little more than a dilapidated apple farm, but it did sport a legendary spring. Back in the early 20th century, citizens from across the United States would travel to the spring and bottle its water, which they considered to be a panacea for everything from cholera to diabetes. While Weld doesnt claim that the spring water, which is rich in minerals and naturally granite-filtered, has any mystical healing powers, he does swear by it.Handcrafted in small batches, Berkshire New England Corn Whiskey is made using corn which Weld sources from a farmer situated less than two miles away from his distillery. After the mash is fermented, the wash is distilled through a traditional pot still before being aged over oak and cherry wood (the wood is cut, milled and charred by hand on the farm). After maturation, the corn whiskey is brought to proof using water from Welds legendary spring.Berkshire New England Corn Whiskey has an aroma of cherry, oak and apple. The bourbon is made from a mash of 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye and 10 percent malted barley, all of which are sourced from family farms in New England. After the grains arrive at the distillery, they are mashed and fermented before being distilled three times through Welds copper-pot still.Once the bourbon has matured in virgin, American oak casks, it is double-barreled, or finished, in casks that were previously used to mature Ommegang Adoration Ale (10 percent ABV). Adoration Ale is a Belgian winter style ale that is dark, malty and assertively spicy. In addition, Adoration Ale itself is aged in ex-bourbon casks, meaning that the extra maturation of Berkshire Bourbon is, in some sense, a return home. After Berkshire Mountain Ommegang Cask Finished Bourbon has aged for a minimum of four years in the combination of virgin American oak and ex-Adoration Ale barrels, it is brought to proof and bottled by hand. The bourbon has an aroma of caramel, sweet spices and light fruits that gives way to crisp notes of vanilla, maple syrup, rye and dark fruits. Bernheim Original Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey
Born in 1848 just outside of Kippenheim, Germany, Isaac Woolfe Bernheim emigrated to the United States when he was a teenager with just $4 in his pocket. He originally planned on taking a job in New York City, but when his employer filed for bankruptcy, Bernheim was forced to find another line of work. He eventually became a travelling salesman, selling housewares to families in Pennsylvania on horseback. When his horse died, though, Isaac and his brother, Bernard who had just emigrated to the United States himself moved to Kentucky. Together, they purchased Pleasure Ridge Park Distillery in 1896 and renamed it Bernheim Distillery Co. During Prohibition, theirs was one of only ten distilleries permitted to remain open and produce whiskey for medicinal purposes.Bernheim Original Kentucky Straight Wheat Whiskey is one of the first truly original straight whiskies produced since Prohibition. Since its primary grain is winter wheat (as opposed to corn or rye), the whiskey has a soft, sweet flavor profile yet a more complex body. The mash, which includes corn and malted barley, is distilled at its namesake distillery in Louisville, Kentucky and then aged for five years in the rickhouses of Heaven Hill in Nelson County, Kentucky.Bernheims unique mashbill and flavor profile earned it the Pioneer Whiskey of the Year Award by Malt Advocate Magazine and the Double Gold Medal at the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
